To give people an understanding of the skills needed to use their lived experience to participate in the planning and delivery of Health Services.
Over a full day of training we will hear from current service user and carer representatives who sit on Health and Wellbeing Boards about their experiences. We will look at how meetings are structured and how to prepare for these to avoid pitfalls such as trigger points.
There will be elements of assertiveness training and a mock meeting.
There will be a look at some of the theories of co-production and sharing power.
We will also explore current opportunities for people to get involved in planning local services and give information on how to apply for these roles.
At the end of the course participants will have a good understanding of:
-How to make a positive difference in Health and Wellbeing services in Powys
-Theories underpinning the importance of service user and carer involvement in planning these services
-Practical experience of how the partnership boards hold meetings.
- Barriers to participation and how to overcome them.
-Current opportunities available immediately and how to apply for them.
Anyone who uses health wellbeing services in Powys and would like to use their lived experience to make a positive change in these services.
