THE SCREWFIX FOUNDATION

Capital grants up to £5,000 for local and national charities and not-for-profit organisations, including Community Interest Companies (CICs) across the UK to fix, repair, maintain and improve properties and community facilities for people in need.

o Who can apply: UK registered charities and not-for-profit organisations for projects in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Applicants can include Community Interest Companies, Community Benefit Societies, Cooperative Societies and other forms of not-for-profit organisation.

Yeovil, Somerset-based the Screwfix Foundation provides grants up to £5,000 for capital projects with no matched funding requirement to UK registered charities and not-for-profit organisations to fix, repair, maintain and improve properties and community facilities for people and communities in need. This can include repairing run-down buildings and decorating the homes of people living with illness and disability.

Projects, which should be environmentally friendly, should:

o Help people in need faced by financial hardship, sickness, distress or other disadvantages in the UK, and
o Support projects that relate to the repair, maintenance, improvement or construction of homes, community buildings and other buildings.

While the Charity Commission site notes that accounts for the year ended 31 January 2021 are available, the accounts for the previously year appear to have been republished by mistake.  However, during the year ended 31 January 2020, the Foundation supported 264 (2019: 234) local charities across the UK, granting a total of £1,077,173 (2019: £918,552). The largest grant made to a local charity was for £5,000 (2019: £5,000), with the average grant being £4,080 (2019: £3,925). Local donations were made to charities in the following geographic areas of the UK:

o England: £897,285.
o Scotland: £126,029.
o Wales: £26,929, 
and
o Northern Ireland: £26,930.

Funding is not available for:

o Individuals.
o IT equipment.
o Rent.
o soft furnishing, 
or
o Staff training.

Wednesday 10th August 2022 for the Foundation’s September 2022 meeting.
Thursday 10th November 2022 for the Foundation’s December 2022 meeting, and
Friday 10th February 2023 for the Foundation’s March 2023 meeting.
