The Schroder Charity Trust provides one-off grants for core costs and projects costs (but usually not large capital appeals) of up to £5,000, with the occasional higher award, to UK registered charities working in the UK or overseas in the following fields:
o Arts and culture.
o Education and young people.
o Environment and conservation.
o Health and wellbeing.
o Heritage.
o Older people, and
o Strengthening communities.
In particular, the Trust is keen to support projects from UK charities that can evidence the following:
o Building strong communities and an understanding on how to engage with intended beneficiaries.
o Helplines and information support services.
o Maximising the use of volunteers.
o Replicable and sustainable work, rather than one off events.
o Support for marginalised/vulnerable younger people.
o Support of older people.
o Sustainability of funding (for example, applicants that will not be solely reliant on a grant from the Schroder Charity Trust to undertake their project), and
o Value for money.
In addition, the Trust advises that hospices and charities involved in medical research are unlikely to receive grant support.
Further information, guidance, frequently asked questions (FAQs) and an online application form is available on the Trust’s website. The Trust recommends that all applicants complete an Eligibility Checklist in the first instance.
Applications may be made at any time. The Trust operates a rolling programme and therefore does not have set deadlines. Decisions on applications are made twice annually. Please note that It can take up to 9 months for applicants to receive a decision about their application. Projects that have already started are unlikely to receive grant support.
