THE KELLY FAMILY CHARITABLE TRUST

Grants up to £5,000 for UK registered charities for interventions that support family units by enabling families to work together to resolve issues that could fracture the family unit.

Application deadline: Wednesday 1 September 2020.

Who can apply: UK registered charities.

The Kelly Family Charitable Trust is interested in funding smaller UK charities whose activities involve all or most family members, where possible, in initiatives that seek to tackle problems facing one or more of its members and encourage the family to work as a cohesive unit to resolve issues. The objective is to reinforce the benefit and support that family members as a unit can give to each other. The Trust prefers to support charities whose income is below £500,000. However, larger charities with pioneering pilot projects will also be considered.

The Trust will consider both capital and revenue grants and is happy to support requests for core funding as well as project-based grants, and actively encourages applications from relatively new organisations to help them become established. Repeat funding requests are also considered on receipt of satisfactory progress reports.

The three areas of activity that the charity wishes to support are:

1. Interventions that support families and help them in ways that prevent the fracture of the family unit, for example practical family support, relationship counselling, mediation.
2. Families where sexual abuse, physical abuse, domestic violence, alcohol abuse and drug abuse threaten the integrity of the family unit, and
3. Prisoners and in particular their families, during and after the period of imprisonment.

UK registered charities can apply for a grant of between £1,000 and £5,000. Higher awards are occasionally made.

All applications should be made on the Kelly Family Charitable Trust’s official application form, which can be downloaded from the Trust’s website, where further information at the Trust’s work and its grant-making criteria can also be found.   Applications, which should be supported by the applicant’s annual accounts where possible, should be sent by email to mail(at)kfct.org.
