Eligible applicants must:
1. Be setting up a new Community Fridge which has not yet opened, and
2. Establish the Community Fridge within 6 months and intend to sustain the project long-term.
The Hubbub Foundation is particularly interested in receiving applications from:
o Areas with a sparsity of Community Fridges (a map can be found on the Hubbub Foundation website).
o Areas where there is not an existing Community Fridge or similar food project within a two-mile radius of the proposed location.
o Areas with high levels of multiple deprivation.
o Areas where the Community Fridge will be open to the entire community and not used for emergency food provision.
o Operating a fair and inclusive application process with equal opportunities for everyone, regardless of background, culture or race, and
o The applicant sees the potential to set up future food and environment-related projects.
Grants can be used for:
o Community Fridge volunteer expenses.
o Insurance for the Community Fridge.
o Print display materials.
o Purchasing fridge/freezer(s).
o Relevant training (food hygiene, safeguarding).
o Staffing costs for the Community Fridge, and/or
o Utilities relating to the Community Fridge (water, electricity).
