THE CYRIL AND EVE JUMBO CHARITABLE TRUST

Small and larger revenue grants are available to UK registered charities working in the UK and/or overseas for a wide range of charitable causes. Programmes which use education, the transfer of knowledge or empathy as the mediums of change are preferred, as are adolescent and post-adolescent programmes in England and self-sufficiency projects in the Developing World.

___________

The Cyril and Eve Jumbo Charitable Trust is a discretionary grant-making charity that supports a wide range of charitable causes in the UK and overseas.

Grants are awarded to charities and causes which are known to the trustees or have been recommended to them by colleagues. A letter of introduction may therefore be the best way to contact the Trust in the first instance. A list of trustees is available in its Charity Commission entry.

The Trust tends to direct its grants toward known courses and where outcomes are measurable. Feedback and follow-ups are always requested from grant recipients and, where possible, a visit from the Trust is carried out to assess the outcomes and ensure awards are being used for the intended purpose.

The Trust seeks to establish a relationship with the charities it supports, developing an ongoing working relationship over a timescale 3-5 years. It gives preference to programmes which use education, the transfer of knowledge or empathy as the mediums of change.  Adolescents and post- adolescents programmes in England and self-sufficiency projects in the Developing World  are favoured. The Trust is less keen on supporting capital projects.

During the year ended 5 April 2021, the Trust awarded 36 grants totalling £303,796 (2020: 40 grants totalling £303,451). Awards ranged from £500 to £41,560 (to Action For Kids Charitable Trust). Grants included a number of repeat awards, which is consistent with grant-making charities that operate through personal recommendations.

A list of all grants awarded over the last two years can be found on page 8 of the Trust’s annual accounts. Charities working in the areas of medical care, particularly cancer, health, mental health, the arts and faith were all supported by the Trust last year.

Applications may be submitted at any time and are reviewed by trustees on a regular basis.

Applications should be in writing and incorporate full details of the applying charity and the cause for which funding is requested. Further information about the Trust is available on its website.
