THE AMAZON LITERARY PARTNERSHIP 2022

Small grants for UK not-for-profit literary organisations empowering underrepresented writers to create, publish, learn, teach, experiment and thrive.

o Funder: The Amazon Literary Partnership (in the US, the Amazon Literary Partnership has provided more than $14 million in funding to hundreds of organisations since 2009).

o Who can apply: UK not-for-profit literary organisations.

The Amazon Literary Partnership is back for its third year in the UK and is now accepting applications from not-for-profit literary organisations who are looking for financial support in 2022.

The Amazon Literary Partnership provides grants to UK literary organisations that empower a whole host of writers, no matter what age or stage they are at. In 2021, the Partnership supported a variety of literary groups, including:

o Groups which provide a platform for budding scriptwriters.
o Organisations running their own literary festivals to highlight the words and work of underrepresented writers.
o Organisations that manage after school workshops, and
o Writers’ retreats crafting specially-devised programmes to cater for deaf writers.

 

No information is available about the level of grant funding available, but we understand that awards are likely to be in the region of £2,000.

Applicants should meet the following criteria.

o A registered not-for-profit organisation in the UK whose core mission is to develop emerging writers, support diversity, celebrate storytelling, and/or build authors’ careers.
o Structurally and financially sound.
o Display energy, passion, and reach. 
o Have an online presence, and
o Have an enthusiastic membership or readership.

 

Applications for 2022 grants are being accepted between 30th November 2021 and 31st January 2022.

Grant recipients will be notified by 16th May 2022. Please note that, due to the volume of requests, the funder has stated that it is unable to respond personally to each inquiry; neither is it able to provide guidance on applications.
