New funds for nature will help plant the seeds for post Covid-19 Wales

To mark World Environment Day, the Welsh Government has announced two new funds which will help people across Wales create places for nature in their communities.

Baroness Kay Andrews, Deputy Chair of The National Lottery Heritage Fund said:
"This new money from the Welsh Government and National Lottery players will help to both reconnect people with an often overlooked natural world, to create nature on their doorstep and protect that nature for years to come."

Local Places for Nature is a capital grant scheme - offering grants of £10,000–£50,000 -  intended to enable communities in Wales to restore and enhance nature.

Community Woodlandsis a capital grant scheme - offering grants of £10,000–£250,000 - intended to restore, create, connect and manage woodlands in Wales.

Applications for both funds are open until 21 October 2021 and further information is available on the Heritage Fund website.
