One-off grants up to £500 for small local charities and community groups in England, Scotland or Wales that are encouraging hard to reach individuals to improve their physical health by taking part in physical activity.

A reminder that the final application deadline for Magic Little Grants is at the end of November.

One-off grants up to £500 are available for local projects that support and inspire hard to reach individuals to participate in sports or exercise with the principal aim of improving their physical health.

Grants can be used to support the general running costs of new and existing sports and physical activities, such as:

o Kit and equipment;
o Volunteer expenses;
o Hire of facilities, 
o Coaching qualifications.

Applications which will predominantly cover the costs of one-off events or trips must provide details of how they intend to deliver a longer-term impact.

During the year ending 31 March 2018 the funder received 314 applications and supported 203 groups with grants totalling £100,000, representing a 65% success rate.

A total of £550,000 is available in 2019. Registered charities in England, Scotland or Wales, social enterprises, charitable incorporated organisations (CIOs), Community Interest Companies (CICs) or other forms of not-for-profit organisation with an annual income of under £250,000 may apply for a grant of up to £500.

First-time grant recipients also receive a free annual membership to Localgiving worth £96.

In order to apply for a grant applicants must:

1. Be eligible to join Localgiving by:
    - Having charitable aims that are not solely for the advancement of religion.
    - Operating on local/regional community initiatives and not be a national charity, and
    - Having a UK bank account in the group’s name.

2. Have an annual income under £250,000.

3. Be running physical engagement project - encouraging individuals to take part in some form of physical activity to help improve their physical health.

Funding is not available for:

o Groups and projects in Northern Ireland.
o National organisations.
o Organisations that have previously been funded by a Magic Little Grant or the players of People's Postcode Lottery and have not finished the project/activity, or
o Organisations that have previously delivered a project funded by a Magic Little Grant or the players of People's Postcode Lottery and have not completed their monitoring/evaluation form.

Applications may be made at any time. The final deadline for applications is Saturday 30 November 2019.

In order to access the Magic Little Grant application form, organisations must have joined Localgiving and set up an account.

Groups that are not yet Localgiving members will need to follow the instructions on the Localgiving website to apply for a grant and obtain their free Localgiving membership. The promo code (MLG2019) can be found on the website.
