The purpose of Food for Life Get Togethers is to use the power of good food, which is seen as a great way to break down barriers and bring people together, to connect people of all ages and from different backgrounds to get more people eating healthily, strengthen communities and reduce the experience of loneliness and social isolation.
Activities/events can be virtual or take place in person. Get Togethers events with people from households or a specific neighbourhood will need to apply for the grant through a not-for-profit group that has its own bank account.
Grants can contribute to the tools and materials required to bring a community together and get Food for Life Get Togethers up and running.
Grants are available for projects that:
o Are community-led and which bring people together.
o Are focused on a Cook and Share activity and scheduled to take place in Cook and Share Month (16th October-16th November 2021).
o Have the potential to be long-term.
o Include people from disadvantaged and diverse communities.
o Reduce the experience of loneliness or social isolation, and
o Encourage a positive attitude to ageing and diversity.
To apply, not-for-profits groups must first register their activity and then complete the grant application form.
Further information, guidance and details about how to apply is available on the Food for Life Get Togethers webpage.
The application deadline is Wednesday 8th September 2021 at 5pm.
