Shared Lives Carers Needed

Shared Lives carers often begin their enquiry as a volunteer wanting to help. Shared Lives carers provide a family setting and care for individuals who need support to live well and independently, they receive payment for the support they provide

The support offered by Shared Lives is flexible, tailored to the needs of the individual.

Shared Lives support individuals who are vulnerable / living with dementia / have learning disabilities / have come from foster care and are transitioning to a life of independence.

There are over 800 Shared Lives carers across Wales and over 10,000 UK wide.

What does it take to be a Shared Lives carer?

A capacity to care, life experience and a willingness to train with a Shared Lives scheme to deliver the best support possible. Support can be short breaks, day support or long term/live-in. Careful matching of individuals means shared living can be the right choice, proving beneficial for people who need support and those willing to offer it.

During Covid-19 Shared Lives arel recruiting and short term support is needed now more than ever.
