A small number of grants are awarded to UK registered charities working in the UK and/or overseas in the areas of the advancement of education, science, the arts, religion, health, the environment, the relief of poverty and support for people in need.

Gloucestershire (Cheltenham) based grant-making charity, the Sterling Charity, makes a small number of grants each year in the following areas:

o The relief of poverty.
o The relief of people in need by reason of youth, age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship, or other disadvantage.
o The advancement of education.
o The advancement of science.
o The advancement of the arts.
o The advancement of religion.
o The advancement of health or the saving of lives, 
and
o The advancement of environmental protection or improvement throughout the world.

 

Please note that, because the Charity awards to the same organisations annually, it may prove difficult to get onto its grant-making portfolio. Organisations interested in enquiring about the availability of grant support should set out their case for funding to the Charity’s Administrator, Timothy Osborne, at the address below.

The trustees formally meet at least twice a year to review requests for grant support.
