Bristol-based, the OVO Foundation is OVO Energy's charitable arm. The OVO Foundation has three focus areas:
1. Education.
2. Energy and the environment, and
3. Youth homelessness.
The Foundation supports inspiring organisations with smart ideas, and researches and invests in projects to give young people a better future.
The OVO Charitable Foundation’s Climate Changers Fund, which has a budget of £1 million, is a new grant programme which will provide up to 3 grants to UK not-for-profit organisations for projects which provide disadvantaged – or less advantaged - children and young people up to the age of 25 with the skills to:
1. Take action on sustainability issues, and
2. Improve access to green spaces.
Projects should include one or more of following:
o Campaigning for better climate change education.
o Increasing opportunities for children and young people aged up to 25 to learn from and connect to nature in/around schools, and/or
o Inspiring positive action on the climate crisis in/beyond schools.
Projects that include the elements listed below are likely to be prioritised:
o Already use, or have an appetite to use, a carbon reduction metric to measure impact.
o Are able to articulate the need for the project by integrating children and young people’s voices and opinions on what they believe the barriers to be.
o Are looking for more than just financial support, for example, advice and support, and/or
o Bring together more than one delivery partner to tackle communities’ multiple needs in order to benefit children and young people.
Funding is not available for:
o Core costs.
o Individuals, bursaries or student fees.
o Promotion of religious or political causes.
o Projects that take place outside of the UK, or
o Short-term or one-off projects.
The application deadline is 23:59 on Friday 22nd July 2022. A number of applicants will be notified in August 2022 that they have been shortlisted for grant support. Representatives of the Foundation will then discuss projects with shortlisted applicants, with final decisions expected to be announced in October 2022.
Further information, guidance and an online application form is available on the Foundation’s website.
