THE IRONMONGERS’ COMPANY GRANTS FOR ORGANISATIONS

Revenue grants up to £10,000 are available to UK registered charities for educational projects and activities that enable children and young people aged 25 and under to fulfil their potential.

o Funder: The Ironmongers' Company (the history of the Ironmongers' Company dates back over 700 years with its roots in the iron trade. Today the Ironmongers’ Company, a non-profit company, is one of the Great XII livery companies. It gives back to society through administering seven charities which focus on the young and old, as well as iron-related causes).

o Who can apply: UK registered charities.

The Ironmongers' Company's Charitable Grants programme funds projects that provide educational benefits (such as the development of life or behavioural skills, or support for special educational needs) to children and young people aged 25 and under across the United Kingdom. The Company will prioritise projects from smaller charities that are innovate, pilot new approaches and whose outcomes can be replicated on a larger scale. Projects should:

o Be for children and young people under the age of 25 who are disadvantaged.
o Be within the UK.
o Consist of educational activities that develop learning, motivation and skills, 
and
o Have clear aims and objectives to be met within a planned timescale.

Revenue grants up to £10,000 are available to UK registered charities. The average grant tends to be around £4,000. Items of equipment can be applied for, but will only be considered where a full explanation is given of how they are relevant to the project or activity. Grants must be used within 1 year of the award being confirmed.

Funding is not available for:

o Building work.
o Bursaries.
o Course fees for professionals.
o Fundraising events and sponsorship, including general appeals and circulars.
o General running costs, although a reasonable proportion of overheads is allowed as part of the overall project cost.
o Holidays.
o Larger projects towards which a contribution from the Company would have limited impact.
o Medical treatment, healthcare, counselling and therapy.
o Projects that begin before the date of the relevant Committee meeting.
o Replacement of statutory funds.
o Research projects, 
or
o Schools, unless a registered charity for children/young people with disabilities.

The application process is as follows:

1. Applicants should complete the Company’s Grant Application Form.
2. A description of the project of no more than three A4 pages, typed on one side of each sheet, should be provided. This should include the following headings:

o Aims and objectives of the organisation.
o How the need for the work has been identified and why the project is the best way to address this.
o A detailed description of the project and the activities that will take place.
o The anticipated outcomes and the methods by which the success of the project will be evaluated.
o A full breakdown of the costs involved, explaining how the figures have been calculated, and

3. A copy of the applicant’s most recent audited accounts should be included if they are not available on the Charity Commission's website. There is no need to include any other supporting documents.
4. Completed applications should be sent to the Charities Assistant at the address below.

The annual deadlines for receipt of applications are 15 December and 31 July. The Appeals Committee meets twice a year at the end of March to review applications made by 15 December and October to review applications made by 31 July.

The next application deadline is therefore Sunday 31st July 2022.
