The Forrester Family Trust’s Small Grants programme, which opened to applications on Monday 1st July 2022 provides grants of up to £5,000 these grants to charities who rely on volunteer support and make an impact in their communities.

The Trust makes awards against its 4 following priorities:

1. Improving the quality of life of individuals and families – the Trust looks for interventions in places where people and communities are suffering multiple disadvantages, and targeting giving in the gaps between state provision and the commercial sector.
2. Investing in well run organisations – the Trust will support charities that:
o That are able to articulate the difference they will make (either through a formal Theory of Change or by answering the Trust’s application questions).
o With a track record of doing good work or with a fantastic new idea.
o File their accounts on time and can demonstrate good governance
3. Ensure grant-making rigour – by having transparent criteria and simple, clear processes.
4. Giving with confidence by:
o Using research and acquired understanding to confidently invest
o Accepting that not all grants will have the desired effect and seek to understand the reasons for that, and
o Taking a measured risk with our limited resources.

The Trust has two application rounds each year in the Spring and Autumn. A list of successful applicants to its Spring 2022 round can be found on its website.

The Trust tries to keep its application process as simple as possible. There’s a short online application form to complete, which – according to the Trust – should take about 30 minutes to complete.
