The Bring it Back Fund is a partnership between environmental charity, The Hubbub Foundation and the coffee house chain, Starbucks. The programme, which has a budget of £1 million, is designed to increase take-up and remove barriers for reusable packaging, such as hot and cold drink cups, bottled beverages, takeaway and on-the-go food packaging, and grocery packaging in the food and drink sector in the UK.
Projects should achieve one or more of the following:
o Promote behaviour change,
o Undertake new research,
o Expand an existing approach, or
o Attempt something completely new, including technical fixes.
The funders are particularly looking for innovators with pioneering approaches to challenge single-use packaging in the food and drink sector. Grants will support consumer facing reuse systems in the UK in both ‘return from home’ and ‘return on the go’ models.
The fund will provide grants between £150,000-£300,000 and fund up to 5 innovative projects across the UK, commencing in September 2022. Projects must be based in the United Kingdom.
Funding is not available for projects that focus purely on packaging. Grants can be used for packaging innovation, but the packaging must be part of a wider system.
Further information, guidance and an online application form is available on the Bring It Back Fund website.
The deadline for applications is 5pm on Friday 24th June 2022.
