The Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation has opened a Small Repairs Funding round for Victorian Theatres build between 1837 and 1910. The grants programme is designed to support discreet and vital repairs or conservation projects in listed theatres. Priority will be given to capital works with a vital, urgent, and/or historic significance, as well as vital repair projects that would otherwise struggle to raise funds. Theatres where the programme of performing arts activity includes - or will include - a focus on encouraging social, economic, and cultural diversity in the arts, are also likely to be priorities for grant support.
Grants of up to £15,000 are available on a matched funding basis. The Foundation has stated that it will required evidence that matched funding has been secured before awarding a grant. Grants are intended to:
1. Provide capital funding towards discreet and vital repairs or conservation projects in listed theatres built between 1837 and 1910.
2. Prioritise support for theatres where the programme of performing arts activity includes or will include a focus on encouraging social, economic and cultural diversity in the arts, and
3. Fund vital repair projects for which it is otherwise difficult to raise money
The application process is as follows:
1. Stage 1: Register of Interest and Application – applicants should email enquiries(at)andrewlloydwebberfoundation.com stating the name of their theatre, location and organisation and including a brief paragraph (no more than 250 words) about their project. The email should be headed: “LISTED VICTORIAN THEATRES – SMALL REPAIRS FUND”.
2. Stage 2: successful applicants at Stage 1 will be contacted by the Foundation for more information or to arrange a visit to the theatre.
Further information, guidance and access to the application process is available on the Foundation’s website.
The deadline for Registrations of Interest is Tuesday 15th March 2022. The Foundation has advised that it may close the fund early if it becomes oversubscribed. Early application is therefore advised.
