Motability is focussing its grant making for the programme on:
o Funding support for staff or volunteer training and costs.
o Funding to increase the number of vehicles available in the community to help organisations support disabled people.
o Funding local, regional, or national initiatives to increase awareness of community transport and influence its inclusion in transport strategy and policy, and
o Funding to schemes, programmes and initiatives that already exist, and who provide best practice solutions, but need further support to remain operational or scale up the service they can provide to help more disabled people.
Grants of between £100,000 and £4 million are available for 1, 2 or 3 years for not-for-profit organisations that meet the following criteria:
o Are based in the United Kingdom.
o Are working in the area of providing transport services for disabled people.
o Have been active for at least three years, and
o Have had an annual income of at least £150,000 per annum over that period.
Motability prefers to fund project proposals in their entirety, but will also consider projects with matched funding.
Grants can be used for such things as (please note this is not an exclusive list)::
o Buying or leasing community transport vehicles.
o Influencing transport strategy, policy and funding.
o Scaling up work, and/or
o Staffing and/or volunteer costs to increase supply of Community Transport services.
