Grants, which are generally under £500, are available to support wellbeing activities and projects that help prevent social isolation and loneliness among older people.
Examples of the type of project that could be funded through the scheme (please note this is not an exclusive list) include:
o Activities such as yoga or a guest speaker for a group, such as a local historian.
o One off activities, such as a day trip or a Christmas lunch, and
o Regular weekly or monthly events and activities, such as a weekly cinema club, a "knit and natter" club or a lunch club.
Small, grassroots organisations may apply for a grant of up to £500, while small, local, registered charities can apply for a grant of up to £1,500. Larger awards are occasionally made.
Applications may be made at any time using the online application form available on the Home Instead website. Applicants should note that it can take up to 3 months for the charity to process applications and should therefore time their project/activities accordingly.
