The Family Action Welfare Grants Programme aims to support families during times of hardship to enable them to become stronger, happier and healthier, to build their skills and resilience, and improve their life chances. Grants can be used for essential personal and household needs to assist families and individuals on low incomes, particularly those living on benefits.

Statutory agencies or charities providing health or social care, housing associations, probation services and GPs may apply on behalf of an individual or family in need. Only one application per applying organisation can be made during each 12-month period.

An online application form and guidance are available on the Family Trust website. Applicants are required to register on the Family Action website before they can apply for grant support.
