BE GAMBLE AWARE: COMMUNITY RESILIENCE FUND

Grants of up to £100,000 are available to not-for-profit organisations in England, Scotland and Wales to address cost of living inequalities that are made worse by gambling.

Be Gamble Aware’s new Community Resilience Fund, which has a budget of £1 million, is designed to provide short-term funding to address inequalities experienced by disadvantaged communities across Great Britain, which have been made worse by the cost-of-living crisis. The Community Resilience Fund aims to provide funding to enable organisations to support their communities, recognising that the current cost-of-living crisis will be exacerbating gambling harms and risk of experiencing gambling harms for many people.

Organisations must meet all 6 of the following criteria to be eligible for apply for funding:

1. The impact of the activity and any direct delivery of services is in England, Scotland and/or Wales. 
2. The activities will not include evangelising or proselytising (preaching, spreading, or attempting to convert people to one’s own belief or religious views). 
3. Applying organisations do not adopt a partisan political stance or activities which are party political. 
4. Applicants are from incorporated organisations with a board of trustees or directors (ideally three unrelated people).
5. Applicants do not request more than 50% of their previous year’s turnover, 
and
6. Activities must be in line with GambleAware’s charitable objectives. 

Grants of up to £100,000 are available for not-for-profit organisations in England, Scotland and Wales that have experience of gambling harm or a related field such as addictive behaviour, health and mental well-being. Grants should be used within 12-months of the grant being confirmed. Applicants must not be currently funded by GambleAware.

Grants can be used for such things as (please note this is not an exclusive list):

o To develop or accelerate an existing service/project.
o To develop or strengthen a new partnership within the community/local area.
o To support innovation, a
nd/or
o Work with a new community.

Applications will be expected to demonstrate the following:

o Evidence of partnerships within the local system (gambling and non-gambling specific) and any plans to develop working with other local organisations within the area.
o Evidence the challenges within the community that need to be addressed/solved and explain how this will be achieved.
o How disadvantaged communities will be supported in relation to gambling harms and associated inequalities.
o How inequalities will be addressed through the Community Resilience Fund and how the cost-of-living crisis has exacerbated these,
 and
o That the organisation applying has experience or knowledge of gambling harms, or experience and knowledge in an adjacent field such as health inequalities, addictions, and mental health.

Funding is not available for:

o Any activity which involves evangelising or proselytising.
o Organisations that adopt a partisan political stance or activities which are party political, 
or
o Requests for more than 50% of a group's previous year's annual turnover.
