A volunteer is a person engaged in an activity which involves spending unpaid time, doing something which benefits some third party other than or in addition to a close relative. Although unpaid, volunteers may receive travel and other approved out-of-pocket expenses.
Volunteers can help to drive vehicles for community transport schemes, help to run sports clubs, organise play activities for children, improve the physical environment, help in a charity shop or be a trustee of an organisation. The list of activities is endless. Volunteering can take place from the home, in the community or overseas.
Powys has a long tradition of volunteering and there are opportunities for people of all ages and interests. The aim of the volunteering section of the website is to provide information for new and existing volunteers and for organisations who already work with or are intending to work with volunteers.
