Our next scheduled training for the Introduction to Learning Disability will be Thursday 7th October 10am to 1pm.
The aim of the course is to develop a basic level of understanding what is meant by a diagnosis of a 'learning disability'.
Training will take place on Wednesday 13th, Thursday 14th and Friday 15th October 2010, 10am to 4pm each day.
Aim of the course is to develop a basic level of understanding of the principles and skills of Advocacy so that the participants are enabled to form an effective partnership with adult who has a learning difficulty.
All training will be held at the BCA Independent Advocacy Services Office, 11 Lion Yard, Brecon.
Out of pocket expenses will be met for the days and tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided.

Turn2us helps people in financial need and those who support them, access the money available to them through welfare benefits, charitable grants and other financial help.
FREE training in Powys and Mid Wales
Turn2us is inviting support workers and volunteers who work with people in financial need to attend a free training workshop. The workshop will enable participants to understand how to use the Turn2us tools and services with their clients, as well as giving an overview of the wider work of Turn2us and the charity Elizabeth Finn Care.

This 2 day course is fully backed and supported by the Welsh Assembly Government as part of their Suicide and Self Harm reduction Policy for Wales.
This course is NOT intended for specialist mental health practitioners.

■ Recognise the signs and symptoms of someone with mental health problems
■ Respond, engage, support and signpost people to appropriate professional help

This course has been designed specifically to provide a basic level of knowledge on food and nutrition for those working with key groups in the community. The course is open to anyone who works with children, young people and families in the community. They training is however open to groups with mixed age ranges as long as there are poeple using the group that are under 25.
The course is accredited by The Open College Network at a Level 2 (equiv to GCSE, NVQ2, Intermediate GNVQ). The course is made up of 10 sessions (2 hours per session). These sessions can be delivered to suit the needs of the group i.e. delivered over 5 weeks with one morning and one afternoon session. Each session will focus on a different aspect of food and nutrition and will involve learning via interactive games, quizzes and general discussion.
The course will be delivered in various locations throughout Powys. Tea and coffee will be provided for you at each of the sessions. The course is available for approximately £15 per person.
