The definitive source of information about company formation and registration. The site contains a useful range of down-loadable guidance booklets.
Useful for information about general tax issues. The site has a useful section about tax, trading and gift aid for charities, with down-loadable guides and fact sheets.
Employment Law and Information
Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (ACAS)
A source of comprehensive information and guidance about employment law and good practice. The site contains a range of publications in down-loadable form, a useful frequently asked questions page and a wealth of other relevant information.
For information about the criminal record check procedures for staff and volunteers working with children or vulnerable adults.
Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform
The site includes a useful section on employment information for employers and employees.
Equalities Information
Provides a comprehensive range of down-loadable leaflets and fact sheets about older peoples issues, aimed at older people, their families and those working with older people.
Commission for Equality and Human Rights
A new body which will combine the existing roles of the CRE, DRC and EOC from October 2007.
Commission for Racial Equality (CRE)
A useful source of information about race equality legislation and employment rights, with guidance and good practice information for employers and public bodies.
A Powys based organisation supporting those with physical disability or sensory impairment or long term ill health in matters of housing, care services, health, access, transport, employment and education issues. Provides training on disability and equalities issues.
Disability Rights Commission (DRC)
A useful source of information about disability discrimination legislation and employment rights, with guidance for employers and service providers.
The national association of disability groups striving to achieve rights, equality and choice for all disabled people in Wales.
Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC)
A useful source of information about sex discrimination legislation and employment rights, with guidance on good practice.
A source of useful information about older peoples issues, including age discrimination in employment.
Fundraising and good practice
A charity that provides information and services to support the fundraising and financial activities of charities.
The self-regulatory body for fundraising practice by Charities in the UK. The website includes information about the scheme and the public complaints procedure.
The professional membership body for UK fundraisers. The website contains the codes of good practice for fundraising in the UK as well as information about charity law and fund-raising.

National Association for Voluntary and Community Action (NAVCA)
An umbrella organisation for community and voluntary sector infrastructure organisations in England. Website has a useful resources section with model policies, toolkits and good practice examples on a range of topics.
National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO)
The national umbrella organisation for voluntary organisations in England. The site includes a full list of NCVO extensive range of publications with an on-line ordering facility.
Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA)
The national umbrella organisation for voluntary organisations in Wales. Provides a wide range of general information and support for Welsh community and voluntary organisations.
Governance
This site has a comprehensive range of information resources to support the trustees of voluntary organisations. Although set up for English organisations the vast majority of the resources on the site are equally applicable to organisations in Wales.
InstituteChartered Secretaries and Administrators (ISCA)
The site contains a number of useful resources for not-for-profit organisations including model job descriptions for officers, codes of conduct and conflict of interest policies.
An internet only resource, with a number of useful information sheets on general governance issues and links to other websites and on-line resources.

Health & Safety Executive (HSE)
The definitive source of information about workplace health and safety issues and associated legislation.
Local and National Government
A comprehensive site providing information about all public services administered by the government. Has links to all central government departments, executive agencies and non-departmental public bodies.
Useful for detailed information about all PCC services. Also provides contact details of local elected representatives, details of current public consultations and grant schemes administered by the council.

Magazines and Publications
The website of Charities Management magazine, published six times a year with feature articles aimed at helping charity managers run their organisations better.
The website of Charity Times magazine, published eight times a year with a range of features and columns on issues affecting the third sector, including management, finance, fundraising, IT, human resources and the law.
Publishes a wide range of specialist publications of interest to community and voluntary organisations. The site has on-line ordering facility.
The website of Governance magazine, a publication specifically for charity trustees, chief executives and company secretaries. It has a number of free down-loadable governance resources and also a vacancies page for organisations seeking to recruit trustees.
London Voluntary Service Council
This organisation publishes a small range of specialist handbooks and publications of interest to community and voluntary organisations.
The website of Third Sector magazine, a weekly publication aimed at charities, voluntary organisations and social enterprises in the UK.
Skills and Training
Part of the UK Government's initiative to increase post-16 learning opportunities, with details of online training packages (some free of charge) available at your local Learn Direct Centre. Courses include a range of useful business and management skills topics.
Trustee Resources
The site has an on-line forum for trustees of UK organisations as well as information to help support the development of self-help trustee network groups.

Welsh Language
