CARAD is about to enter a new and challenging phase of its development.
In 2009 the organisation delivered a major capital project on time and on budget - the Rhayader Museum and Gallery, a project supported throughout its many years of planning by Arts Council Wales and Heritage Lottery Fund Wales. CARAD, having been a Revenue Funded Organisation for ten years with Arts Council Wales, anticipated that this relationship would continue when the results of ACW's Investment Review were announced in July 2010. Regrettably though, when ACW took the decision that it was one of the organisations to be cut -despite being given significant praise by ACW in the process.
Despite this serious setback though, our staff team and Board of Trustees are very strong and resilient and we are now looking ahead to finding ways for CARAD to move forward. One big priority for us this year was always going to be teh recruitment of some new trustees to join our Board. We had hoped they would be joining with our status as an RFO client renewed however our changing circumstances do not change our plan to strengthen our leadership team.
We have some particular areas of expertise that we feel would be a priority for us to attract including: strategic finance, fund raising, marketing, education, current arts sector experience and governance. That said, the most important thing that any new trustee would bring to the activity and to offer vital volunteer management support to our dedicated staff team and our many equally dedicated volunteers who are all committed to CARAD's long term development.
Anyone with an interest should, in the first instance request an information pack from CARAD Secretary, Ann Griffiths, c/o CARAD, East Street, Rhayader, LD6 5ER or by email to all@carad.org.uk marked for the attention of Ann Griffiths. Further information will be available on CARAD's website: www.carad.org.uk and during an opportunity to meet the Chair of Trustees in an informal Question and Answer session at CARAD on Wednesday 8th September at 7.30pm.
