Charity Commission signs memorandum of understanding with Big Lottery Fund
The Charity Commission and Big Lottery Fund have signed an agreement that outlines the relationship between the two organisations. The memorandum of understanding was signed by the two organisations in February, but published by the Charity Commission this week. It sets out how the two organisations propose to work together, both in "coordinating their regulatory operations" and "formulating the regulatory policy framework within which they work". The Commission said that the agreement is intended to "promote effective working and communication between the Commission and the Big Lottery Fund" and "promote cooperation" at a strategic and operational level. It aims to "facilitate effective investigation and disclosure of information to prevent, detect and remedy misconduct or mismanagement in the administration of charities or charitable funds". It also intends to "ensure appropriate consultation on matters of relevant and significant policy initiatives to ensure that charities fully comply with their legal obligations and adopt best practice in governance and accountability". The document is signed by Michelle Russell, director of investigations, monitoring and enforcement at the Charity Commission, and Dawn Austwick, chief executive of the Big Lottery Fund. - See more at: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/memorandum-of-understanding-charity-commission-and-the-big-lottery-fund

Sad to see Paul Griffiths and Sue Simpson both leave PCC today. Good people to work with. Wish them well for the future.
