POWYS HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE PARTNERSHIP

This is the lead body for Health and Social Care in Powys.  It deals with health and social care strategy, needs assessment and implementation, and also joint commissioning and monitoring.  It is also currently looking at the LHB service modernisation agenda.  The Partnership and its supporting infrastructure is currently under review.

POWYS HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE PARTNERSHIP SUB GROUPS

The Partnership has responsibility for overseeing the formulation and implementation of the Health Social Care & Wellbeing Strategy 2008-11.  The Partnership has identified five strategic priorities

In order to take forward these priorities the Partnership has set up four thematic groups.

  • The Strategic Health Improvement Group (SHIG) focuses on delivery of "prevention and health promotion" (Strategic Priority Area 1) and also on "reducing inequalities in health and wellbeing" (Strategic Priority Area 2)
  • The Promoting and Maintaining Independence Sub-Group (Strategic Priority Area 3)
  • The Chronic Conditions Strategic Management Group (Strategic Priority Area 4)
  • The New Models of Health and Social Care Programme Board (Strategic Priority Area 5 - "Securing Safe, Effective and Sustainable Services")

PAVO recruits representatives to these groups to take forward issues on behalf of the Third Sector.  The current representation is as follows:

1. Multi Agency Reference Groups (MARG's)
These groups inform the joint commissioning of health and social care services,  the needs assessment for client groups, and monitoring of health and social care services provided for specific client groups.  There are currently five groups with voluntary sector representatives: older people, physical and sensory impairment, learning disabilities, carers and mental health.  The future of these groups is under review.
