HI-Society Awarded Gwirvol Grant

Isobelle Toy & Henry Galletta were awarded £2000 from the Gwirvol Grant Scheme

Crickhowell Defibrillator Launch

On Friday 24th September 2010 Crickhowell Volunteer Bureau and volunteers of the HI-Society Project celebrated with a launch party for the Towns defibrillator. The evening was a huge success with a talk about the project and a demonstration of defibrillator life support.

Kerry Crosfield - Manager said 'I would like to thank all those that attended our launch party with special thanks going to Isobel Toy and Henry Galletta for setting up the project, Rosie Toy for designing our brochures and of course to our First Aid Trainer Mary Toy. The project has allowed us to highlight the need for a public access defibrillator in our rural town and surrounding villages and we have the support from our local community, Crickhowell High School and also Town and Community Councils.

We have trained 61 people in basic and defibrillator first aid training and wish to continue the project with a target of purchasing further defibrillators and training people in each of the surrounding villages. This is a huge project which will require us to undertake a lot of fundraising but we have 21 volunteers active in this project and I am sure that we will succeed in our target.'
