Building Capacity with Voluntary Internships

The WCVA Internship Programme aims to strengthen communities and increase employability through short term specialist volunteers. The programme places graduates for between four weeks and three months on a full or part time basis, with travelling expenses the only cost.

Julie Skelton, programme co-ordinator stated 'This is different to volunteering in that internships need to be single piece of work or a project that can bring real value to organisations whilst adding something specific to the intern's CV.

Examples of project to date include feasibility studies, promotional film, community consultation for planning or evaluation, design, build and editing of website, brochure design, marketing plan and fundraising and event organisation.

Organisations who are hosting internships in Powys include, Autur Ystradgynlais, Llanwrtyd Wells Community Transport, Duke of Edinburgh Brecon, Oldford Communities First Partnership, Siawns Teg and Ponthafren Association.

If your organisation would like to discuss the possibilities of creating internships contact Julie Skelton WCVA on 02920 436 594 or email jskelton@wcva.org.uk
