Are you entitled to drive a minibus?

Prior to taking the MiDAS, please check that you passed your UK car driving test before January 1997. This will entitle you to drive a minibus, providing you have no medical restrictions. If you passed your driving test after 1997, you can only drive a minibus if you meet the following;

  • Are a volunteer driver
  • Driving for a not-for-profit organisation
  • Have held your full licence for at least 2 years
  • Are over 21
  • Have no medical restrictions
  • The minibus Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) or Maximum Authorised Mass (MAM) is no more than 3.5t (Standard) or 4.25t (Accessible)
  • Must not tow a trailer

If your organisation has its own minibus, please check its weight and contact us for further information.

If you don’t meet the above criteria, then please see the D1 training area.
